This morning I had the rare pleasure of a lie-in with a book and took the chance to complete the family quadrella of having read your novel Time Flies. I felt compelled to write to you and let you know what a great read it was. I was moved to tears at several stages. The story had many elements crammed into its mere 110 pages: history; mystery; encouragement of a love of learning and reward for effort; relationships; action and consequence; collecting/ hoarding/ discarding; lies, theft and deception; sacrifice.
Thank you for creating this book and for your positive involvement with both our children!
I had expected more of a children's book when I started to read Time Flies. I found it just so good I couldn't put it down until I finished.
How you managed to make it a modern day story that kids can definitely relate to and something that I thoroughly enjoyed was just great.
Rachel and Erin didn't put it down until they had finished it also. My mum has now got it to read.
Thank you for sending the book Time Flies to us. There are not many books I have read that have been so exciting and interesting at the same time!! Thank you again.
The story Time Flies is one of the best stories I have ever read. Usually when I read a book if it is boring it takes me at least a week to finish it but both your books Miranda the White Witch and Time Flies only took me a day or so to finish. Even when the dog whinged at the door I could not leave the book because it was so interesting to read.
I'm really sad you're retiring. I've been reading a really good book called Katie's Dream. You're really good at writing books! I loved the stories you would tell us in class. You were really nice and funny.
I really enjoyed reading your book, Katie's Dream. Once I started reading I couldn't put it down. I am a very picky reader. Quite a lot of the books I read I never find them interesting, but this book was so good . It was well explained cause I could just see the characters in my head.
I can't wait to read your next book.
I come from Canterbury Primary School (I am in year 4). In year three we read your book Time Flies. I thought it was great so I bought it (a copy) from the school Then a couple of weeks ago my friend found a book in our school library it was called Katie's Dream. And she read it and recommended it to me because I really liked Time Flies. So I read it. I thought it was fantastic! (I thought Time Flies was a good as Katie's Dream.)
They're my favourite books ever!
I have a couple of questions:
1. How do you think of these books?
2. When you were looking for a school to teach at did you want a school with a lot of history so you could write a book? *
3. Can you recommend a couple more books that you have written that are like Time Flies and Katie's Dream?
Time Flies was actually written twenty five years after I had left the school!
Dear Adrian,
It's me Emily. The book you sent me was great NO more than great it was beautiful, sad, cool, I have no idea how to decribe it .IT was interesting for the first time in a chapter how it all makes scence and it's organised and that bit of everything in it.
I also loved that at the start to be honest I didn't think I would like it but I didn't want to upset you so I DID read it. As soon as I read the first chapter it was so beautiful I had to keep reading it. I loved it.
Sorry if I got my spelling rong. I'm working on it.
